“KeepingIt Real” with the owner of Sound Stream Records. The thing most often noted after dealing with Sound Stream Records owner Brian Odom is He’s “real” quiet, focused and intelligent. It took three years for me to understand his continence, Brian doesn’t say much, but when he talks, you catch up with what's hot on Cashville's Streets.. (Interviewer) “What’s the “Word on The Street?” (Bryan) - The word on the street this week is “Young Buck”, that’s all everybody has been talking about round here. (Interviewer) How did you come up with opening a record store?” (Bryan) “I was working for Turtle Records and I got tired of working for other people. I wanted to have my own. Back in 1991 I was the only Black owned record store. My store and New Life were the only ones that specialized in Black music. Now I think it’s just me and New Life again. (Interviewer) - "You’ve been in the business for 14 years now." What’s the key to a successful record store?” (Bryan) “It isn’t as easy as people think. You have to know what to order. It ain’t no credit in this business, you order what you sell or you lose.”

(Interviewer)  “How do you know what’s going to be hot?” (Bryan)  “BET  keeps me current, plus magazines, 
and of course, Everything Underground. It all helps, and the rest is instinct.”

(Interviewer)  “What’s up with your wall of fame?”
(Bryan)- “Actually X Clan started it in 1991 with “We have Come,” (points to the autographed 
picture on the wall of famous people). They were in town and they were looking for a record 
store 
to sign autographs in and give back to there fans. So they came here.” 
(He points to a picture of underground rapper Crooked Eye). “He’s changed his name to Gator, he’s down with 
GoodieMob and Big Gipp and em’.

 (Interviewer)  “So who’s the best underground in Nashville?” (Bryan)  
“Now that’s hard to say. I've got to think about who all is here.  Blaze is hot.
They got a nice project but personally I still like Pistol I’m from the old school. 
I like Quanie too.” h. Jazz came in and let me hear Cruna's new stuff. With 
a serious look he say’s “It’s serious.”

(Interviewer) What about the DJ’s, who do the people ask for?”(Bryan)  
“Well of course C-Wiz, Swift, Red, and Lil Les.” (Interviewer)  “Lil LEEZY”!
